WE AFFIRM that God has designed marriage to be a covenantal, sexual, procreative, lifelong union of one man and one woman, as husband and wife, and is meant to signify the covenant love between Christ and His bride the church. Genesis 1:28; 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:7-9; Ephesians 5:31-32
WE AFFIRM that the covenant of marriage is only dissolved upon the death of one spouse, and all remarriage after divorce is adultery while both spouses of a prior marriage live, without exception. Romans 7:2-3;1 Corinthians 7:39
WE AFFIRM that the received forgiveness of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit empower weak human beings to forgive and love others. Matthew 6:12, 14-15; 18:21-22; Mark 11:25-26; Luke 6:37; Luke 11:14; 17:3-4; John 20:23
WE AFFIRM that there is no marriage that God cannot heal. Mark 14:36
WE AFFIRM that God’s revealed will for all people is chastity outside of marriage and fidelity within marriage. 1 Corinthians 6:13, 18; 7:2
We AFFIRM that God calls married couples who separate to be reconciled to each other or continue to live a single, celibate lifestyle. 1 Corinthians 7:10-11
WE AFFIRM that God created Adam and Eve, the first human beings, in His own image, equal in dignity and worth before God as persons, and distinct as male and female. Genesis 1:27
WE AFFIRM that divinely ordained differences between male and female and their roles reflect God’s original creation design and are meant for human good and human flourishing. Genesis 2:20-24; Ephesians 5:23; 1 Timothy 2:13-14
